Pressing for progress on International Women's Day

8 March 2018

Women's achievements have been great. Yet so much more needs to be done.

For your generation. For the next generation. Forever.

Data shows the gender gap is widening. The 2017 Global Gender Gap Report tells us that gender parity is over 200 years away. Today, only a fifth of parliamentary seats and 19 of the 196 heads of state are held by women. While Australian women's educational attainment has increased over the past two years, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency has found that women earn on average 15.3 per cent less than men. According to the ABS, one in three Australian women has experienced physical violence since the age of 15.

At Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand, our purpose is to disrupt the cycle of disadvantage and enable fullness of life, especially for women and girls.

We’ll continue to #PressForProgress and use our services, research and advocacy to support women and girls to build their safety and resilience, increase their access to education opportunities and improve their financial security.
